You Are Welcome!

At our local Turkish Restaurant, called Sarah's Pocket, the owner of the establishment is constantly expressing a heartfelt "you're welcome". Maybe his English is limited, but his business thrives, he's known as "one of the nicest guys", and he's happy. Not only are you welcomed in the restaurant but now launched into the world, T-shirts with YOU"RE WELCOME boldly shouting out for all to see. When you're in this restaurant, and in the presence of this man, you naturally want to give, you feel at home and part of his family, and you want to behave well. Not to mention, the food tastes fantastic, food for the Gods maybe! Ummmm... could he be onto something?
Meditating on gratitude and appreciation the other day, I discovered the importance of the words "Thank you". I admit, I have been resistant to gratitude in the past. Perhaps, from hearing "what to you say" a bit too often, with a display of politeness and little genuine gratitude, that the concept of "have an attitude of gratitude" was lost on me until I understood this...
Could it be that when we say, "thank you for my health", "thank you for the food", "thank you for my children" ... the Universe/God gets to say, "YOU ARE WELCOME!" Imagine this...a whole planet where people naturally want to give, people feel at home and a part of a collective "family", and a population that feels moved to be on their best behavior. How would your life be different? Just imagine.....
